Marketing Guide [Revised 0.o]
Please note that the original guide was made a long time ago and therefore some of the examples may not still be the best way to make money. Just try and find whatever works best for you
Starting Cash Once you first start out obviously you shall want to be the best you can be. For this, you will need in game currency. There are many ways to start out on this game and get a nice cash flow. Marketing is one option out of many which I will not include. Although, in order to marketeer you will need to start out with a bit of money. The more the better. There are a few ways to get starting cash: -Hunt your butt off till you get a decent item to sell(Best done with an archer). -Level and hope to get a good sellable item. -Doing quests for profits. -Get a loan from a friend. -Buy DBs off the site(LAME). Those are all i can think of at the moment. Your Alternate Market Character In order to keep you still leveling or other such things while you sell your items, you need an alternate character. This character should have a nice, easy rememberable name. It doesn't really matter what class or whatever it is, just anything to sell your stuff in the market. Your First Sale Now once you have your first item, search the market. If you have an item then search for an identical item in the market and vend in your shop your item for that price. Now if you have cash instead, search the whole market and look for an item cheaper then its normal price and buy it. Vend it in your shop the item for the regular price(Please note that I said regular price. Please don't go over, especially for your first sale). Wait for your item to sell and voila! You are on your way to having really deep pockets. Always Know Your Market Always keep a constant knowledge of the item in your servers market. This is crucial in knowing which deals to make...or which not to. Especially keep and eye on the prices of met's and DB's. They are most important since they are the most efficient form of currency because of the many purposes they serve. They are the bread and butter of marketing because they are ALWAYS in demand. Another main thing to keep your eye on is the prices of socket items. They are the items with the highest range in prices and therefore you will most likely be able to profit off of them the most. But that's for later, after you learn to work the market a little better. Working Prices In order to be able to sell your items in the fastest way possible you need to watch out for other marketers. They may be selling your same item for even cheaper than you! This is something to watch out for and if not played smart, will slow down your money making process. Working prices is easier to to with cheaper and less plentiful items, and harder with more expensive and ample items. For example, if you are selling your meteor scrolls for 10 cp each, and another shop is selling them for 8 cps near you. Obviously they are going to sell faster than you. However, you may buy his scrolls and re-sell them for your price. This will allow your scrolls to sell faster and you will be able to make a tad bit of profit off of the bought scrolls. Making Trades Once you get into the richer marketing such as socket marketing or some other valuable items such as super items, you will notice that people will mostly only want to trade their socs or supers for DB's or money as apposed to items. "Use the money and DRAGONBALLS you buy with Conquer Money to make strategic trade. I say this because now when players sell sockets they strictly want cash or DBs. The trick is to always be the guy who has the cash and DBs AND to always be the guy who will trade his sockets away for WHATEVER as long as the items can be resold for MORE than what you originally paid for the socket."-TrojanFury This is true as people will give you more cash in other items then they will for pure DBs or cash. Quests for Cash There are also other ways to make money such as doing quests in game. Not many are profitable but some may be. The quests most people do are either the Blue Mouse or Moon Box quests(moon box quest not so much anymore haha!). I. The Moon Box quest is very time consuming and takes a higher level player to do with ease( probably around 120+ to breeze through). The Blue mouse(this quest can get tedious) gives you what i find to be a slow but yet steady income (I would suggest doing this when u first start out with a tiny bit of money). To make money off of the blue mouse quest you will need to buy the cheapest moon, violet, or fury gems you can spot. If they are worth more than half a meteor scroll ( I highly doubt it) than don't buy it. What you will be doing is exchanging these items for a gold needle, catching the mouse, and exchanging the rewards for meteors to an NPC(forgot the name) in Twin City. Then sell your new meteor scrolls and re-do the process for steady income. Cycle Selling Note*: This may tie in a little with questing. Cycle selling is a very efficient and constant profit. It is basically a planned out deal for marketing. An example(by Red or Green): "One other thing to consider is cycle selling. Here's a basic example of cycle selling marketing strategy (using Ryee prices). Start with 9kk. Buy 6 moon gems. (Prices vary from 1-1.5kk depending). Turn gems into 30 meteors doing blue mouse.Sell the scrolls for 20 cps each. After they sell you now have 60 cps. Buy 2 exp balls from npc for 27 cps each. Sell exp balls for 7.5kk each.Final result. If you bought the gems for an average of 6kk, you now have 9kk and 6cps in profit. If you bought the gems for an average of 9kk, you now have 6kk and 6 cps in profit. Repeat." I find cycle selling to be a good form of profit. Although it is not always a big profit, it is always constant so therefore over time you may make a larger profit then if you don't. Keep Your Pockets Jingling Always keep some cash, cps, or a few DBs. There are many times where you may find a deal that you cannot pass up. Don't expend all of your money at once. Although this is REALLY hard not to do when you start out and are low on cash. So this mostly applies to richer marketeers but that doesn't mean ignore this. Reborning Items There are many items that would be worth more if they were a lower level. If you are a water or warrior farmer or have a friend who does so, then you may reborn items to a lower level. This possible may also make the item worth more then if it would be a higher level. When I myself do this I usually up level it in Twin City up to level 60 just in case the item might just get an item socket(For non wepon items). Mistakes in Price Two things to help you get money ALOT faster is to look for quick-sellers or "mistakes". An example of a quick-seller would be: DB's are worth 30kk. You find someone selling a DB for 25kk or possibly even 20kk. You profit 5-10kk . You always want to have a bit of cash just for these rare occasions so that's why i say not to go and spend all your money right away. An example of a "mistake" would be: Someone in a stall is trying to sell a DB again for 30kk. With a bit of luck find some people might forget an extra zero at the end of their item so they end up selling it for 3kk. Another example would be instead of someone having put an item for cps...they put it up for silver. On these rare occasions you profit TONS(doesn't happen anymore unless people are dumb since when you put an item in your market it goes straight to cps). It is good to take advantage of that so you can profit tons these ways. Also...make sure YOU DON'T double check your prices so you don't fudge up haha.Quick selling isn't to bad on occasion though when you really need cash Going AFK When you are marketing and you may go afk (away from keyboard) and so you are not able to take offers every once and a while, you should hawk some thing saying "Afk Whisper Offers" or something similar saying you are afk so your buyers know so.when you go afk if you disconnect or accidentally log off then you will erase all of the offers you got from the people. That is why it is important to record all of your offers on your. To do so click chat, then chat log and then record. That way if you disconnect or log off on accident all of the offers you get are saved and you can view them at will. All suggestions for the guide will be considered.

Mostly common sense stuff, but still a good guide..
I recommend having at least 2 DBs or the equivalent in gold on hand at all times. (IE: make sure you have that much left over when making a 'large' purchase). Because, like you mentioned.. if you don't have that much then you can miss some great deals just because you don't have the cash on hand.. And as you mentioned, knowing the average prices on your server is important. I would say it is the most important aspect of marketing. It is best to memorize the average prices for mets, dbs, exp balls/potions, normal socs, +'d items/stones, and high-end items (any quality non weapon socs, super 2soc weapons, gourds/bottles/exemption tokens/star & tough drills/+8 lotto items).

lol heres a tip:
To make BIG profit, just look at the socket items ppl sell for cps. Once in a blue moon you will come across someone who has rushed to work or something and has entered the wrong currency, ie. gold for cps. This is something u should do if u dont have much time to scan through everything for sale and crunch the numbers. Plus, such items with CP labels or 'supposed Cp labels' are pretty easy to recognise, thus making it a quick job. The big haul will come one day...

One thing I would mention:
RARE items. Even if they are not particularly cheap, buying items that are exceptionally rare can often be a great idea. Why? People in a hurry. If you own the ONLY item of that type on the market, you can basically sell it for whatever price you want, so long as somebody wants to buy it. This is especially true for things such as good +8 items and 2-socs (although not so much 2-socs since the patch).

Something else to consider, especially if you are a war/water farmer.
Buy high level items for cheap, rb them and sell for more, since low level items command a higher premium. Last night I bought an elite+1 lvl 120 neckie for 5kk. Two weeks ago I bought a +4 2xrdg elite lvl 120 poleaxe for 30kk. I've bought more than a few items this way. If I decide to rb them, especially the neckie, they should be able to sell easily for more than that. EDIT: Here's a couple of more ideas for sections. 1. Scanning the in game message board for deals. (This works best when you have at a minimum half a db worth of capital.) Examples: Buying +4 stones for a db and reselling for 1.5 dbs. Buying 14-17 metscrolls for a db, reselling scrolls for 17-20 cps. All my cheap socs I've bought this way. 2. Placement of your marketer. (Important if you are selling something that a lot of other people are selling as well.)

On Dragon, Metscrolls won't sell for CPs, even at low prices like 14 CPs per scroll - people only buy metscrolls with silvers here. But if you sell individual mets, you can get 2-3 CPs per met. Does that make any sense...no, but individual mets WILL sell for CPs on Dragon, Scrolls not so much.

For Ryee, if I'm not one of the first 5 sellers in the front/main pod, my metscrolls will have a tough time selling for cps. Don't ask me why, I gave up trying to figure it out, because it started to give me a headache... If I can't get one of those spots, I market other stuff. If I get one of the front spots I market metscrolls. Adaptation, experimentation, how long you leave your marketer selling, and knowledge of the overall market demand/supply for your respective server is definitely key to making it work.
