Disguises 101

What are 'disguises'?

Disguises are skills that allow you to transform into a certain 'monster' with certain attributes for a limited time.

Which are they?
  • For Trojan
  • Robot: Trojans can learn Robot in level 40. Robots have 50000 (50k) HP, however, theyr attack and defense is not completely great. Robots are not very good in PvP either, because they are slow. They can be good for Tanking or maybe a bit of surviving, it can also hold you on for a bit longer while being owned by a taoist or another enemy .
You can learn Trojan in the Job Promotion Center from Trojan Star.
Note, the picture linked before is not really how the Trojan Robot disguise looks like, but that is the monster it disguises at. The disguise looks more like a robot than a monster

    For Water Taoists
  • Water Elf: Water Taoists can learn Water Elf at level 50. Theyr HP ranges from around 1k of elementary WaterElf to 2k with fixed WaterElf. They are quite powerful against Taoists and possibly archers, however theyr defense and magic defense is not very good. You're going to have to be quick to get a KO with this one.
WaterElf is learned at the Job Promotion Centre, tought by Taoist Moon.
  • Divine Hare: Divine Hare is great for traveling. Theyr jumping speed is amazingly fast, once you try it out you'll see what I'm talking about. Water Taoists are able to learn DivineHare by level 54. Divine Hare has 3k HP (3000). They're defense is good and their magic defence is awesome. Divine Hare might work to run away from a PKer, traveling, standing a chance against some strong monsters, etc.
Divine Hare scrolls are sold in the Market's pharmacist for 50,000 silvers.

    For All Classes
  • Night Devil: The rarest of all disguises. NightDevil scrolls are only found by killing Poltergeists in Central Plain, and their drop rate is very rare . Level 70 is required to learn.
Night Devil has high magic defense, and its plainly awesome to kill Taoists with them, since they have good attack against them, and outstanding range. NightDevil, however, is terrible against melee classes, because you'll get your ass whooped . However, NightDevil scrolls cost alot of money, so having a NightDevil will make people turn their heads and talk to you .

Only one thing I'd add to your guide, fury, and that is what each disguise does against regular monsters, aides, messengers, and kings.

For instance, robot generally 1-2 hits white named regular monsters, 3-5 hits white named aides and messengers, takes down about 50-100 hp a hit against white named kings. The only good thing about robot is its hp. It's practically impossible to die while in robot (several monsters 50 lvls higher than you simultaneously pounding on you without you ever retreating will do it but that's about it), and even better if you let the robot end naturally instead of self-restoring early you'll return to human form in full hp instead of at percentage.

Water elf usually 1 hits white named regular monsters, 2 hits aides and messengers, takes out around 500-1000 hp a hit against white named kings. However unless you cast shield spell on yourself before going elf you'll likely need to use hp pots or retreat early.

Divine hare usually 1 hits white named regular monsters, 2 hits white named messengers and 3 hits white named aides, while white named kings generally get hit quicker than with elf but for only around 200-400 hp a hit. This one seems to have the highest physical defense of them all but without the hp backup that robot has. This means that if your lvl difference is high enough it can punch through your defense and 1-hit you but if its anywhere close to the same lvl as you it only does around 5-20 dmg a hit unlike robot.

I've never found a night devil (or dance for that matter!) scroll no matter how much I item hunt in polts and refuse to spend money for it so I have no clue as far as that one goes.

Mine always restores my HP, even when I self-restore. Also, another great use of a fixed Robot skill is that it gives you over a whole minute to go AFK and use the washroom/get a drink once you activate it since you'll be taking very little damage from everything and have 50K HP

Wit any form that gives you more hp, you come back with full HP if:
1. The HP was higher then your normal HP when it ends.
2. You got damamged when in your Disguise.

Lightbulb a good thing about robot...

TIP:

i have found that if you're uber paranoid (like me) about upgrading your items at artisan wind, go into robot mode and then you got some safe time to upgrade w/out fear of getting 1-hit PK'd in TC.

so if u see me robot near artisan wind you know what i'm doing!!! :P

also store your DB's and mets at TC storage for easy access.

this is a very nice 101 guide but how about some good screenshot pics so the noobs will not drool when they see ND disguise for first time.

HP formula is...

Character (Current HP/Max HP) * Disguises's Max HP
for your HP when transforming INTO a disguise

EX: You have 500 out of 1k HP and turn into robot. Your HP will be 25k/50k

Turning back to normal has 2 instances:

1) If your HP in disguise form was ENTIRELY unaltered (no cure spell cast on you, even at full HP, no damage taken, no pots eaten, etc. etc.) your HP will revert to what it was before changing into the disguise.

Ok, using the above example, you have 25k HP out of 50k, and were not hit or healed. You return to normal with 500 out of 1k HP.

2) If your HP WAS altered in some way, the following formula is used.
Disguise's current HP -> into char directly, upper bound at char's max HP if HP at all was changed.

Using the above example again, you were damage 1 point, and now have 24,999 out of 50k. You return to normal with 1k HP.

Hope that all makes sense.

When I was alone, I did not notice
the piercing blue sky.
When I was alone, I did not hear
the sound of the wind that chilled my heart.

The person who taught me this is not just anyone;
he is always close by, encouraging me.

As I felt your heartbeat, my mind envisioned
exchanged smiles, outstretched hands, bewilderment -
the two of us, bound together.

When I was alone, I did not understand
the true meaning of loneliness.
When I was alone, I could not look for
a reason to wait for the break of dawn.

When I am drenched in the overflowing sunlight,
two hands draw me close and hold me as tightly as possible.

You and I, showing the wear of our burdens;
you and I, illuminating each other's paths,
shoulder to shoulder, together.

You and I are far, far apart, but
you and I can surely someday be reunited -
strongly drawn together.

You cant repair your items though sometimes it shows full dura to you, indeed sometimes it doesnt have full dura because there are modifications, say one item has 5400 dura in data base, and it shows 54 in your client. If your real dura is 5370 which means your items has worn a bit but it still shows 54 in your client. So the sever will still ask you to repair your item or charge more money when you repair items.

I have water elf fixed for my lvl right now (lvl 68) and I just want to add that it's def makes it so mobs up to about 15 lvls higher than me only hit me for 1. I also want to add that the magic def is horrible. I am lucky if I can survive in a battle with a white named messanger. It's great for killing kings though.

And for Devine Hare. The attack on that is really low. you were saying that you can 1 hit white named mobs. I can barely 3 or 4 hit mini maqs and I'm lvl 68 w/ DH lvl 1. But overall the Def and speed is awesome. I can even tank guards in TC for about 3 hits b4 they kill me
