a brain teaser for all...

3 guys arrive in a town and decide to get a hotel room and share it...
the clerk charges them 30 dollars
each man pays 10 dollars each.
after they have gone to thier room the clerk remembers there is a special on each room of 25 dollars
she hands the bellboy 5 dollars and tells him to take it to thier room
on the way up the bellhop decides he is getting paid to bring the money up there and takes 2 dollars out of the 5
he gives the 3 men 3 dollars and in turn each of them gets 1 dollar back
here is the teaser
technically they paid 9 dollars each for the room
but if 3x9 is 27 and adding the 2 dollars the bellhop took
it makes it 29 where did the other dollar go?

because you forgot the decimal. The accuall amount they paied each is... 8.33333 (goes on forever) so round it up to $8.33.

why would tehre be a decimal? 9 X 3 works out to 27..

you asked what they paid, the $5 was returned to them so they paied $8.33 ea.

they only paid for $27 not $30 (25 for the room, 2 for the bellhop) so no dollar missing

I am not asking how much each paid for the room it is 9 dollars each what I am asking about is the disappearing dollar.
